About this grant

Liga Pro Europa works to assist in the process of democratization in public institutions by raising awareness about minority rights and the needs of ethnically diverse communities; influencing public opinion to support interethnic tolerance and mutual assistance; developing skills of young leaders from diverse ethnic backgrounds; and promoting the role of women in public policy.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include continuing to implement five ongoing activities such as the Intercultural Center, the College for Democracy, the Human Rights Office, the Gender and Democracy program and raising public awareness about environmental issues; establishing branch offices in Cluj and Bucharest to maximize the impact of their activities and engage more actively in national debate; intensifying communication with local, national and international media to raise public awareness about multiculturalism and interethnic relations; and promoting and encouraging national campaigns to increase public understanding of minority and human rights.Accomplishments during the past two years included establishing a new branch office in Satu-Mare; developing a training program for Roma leaders; engaging in national and local campaigns to protect the environmental and cultural heritage; and raising the profile of ethnically diverse communities among citizens and local authorities.
