About this grant
The Albanian radio program, "Rruga Me Pisha," offers dramatic narrative and entertainment while stimulating debate and raising awareness of issues and dilemmas common to everyday life in Albania. Through developing characters and storylines, the program addresses public participation, community organizing, the nonprofit sector, human rights, corruption, environmental protection, domestic violence, and a range of other social and developmental issues. Multiyear funding will support education and outreach activities to deepen the impact of the program. Activities will include conducting five workshops for journalists, local non-governmental organizations, civil servants, teachers and others to discuss issues raised in the program; organizing 10 performances where actors travel to remote areas of the country and perform for local communities; and developing and maintaining a Web site to enable people to learn more about the program and provide feedback.The Rruga Me Pisha Foundation, formerly a project of the BBC World Service Trust, was established as an Albanian nonprofit organization in 2001.
