About this grant
East Harlem Employment Service’s Support Training Results in Valuable Employees (STRIVE) program provides employment training, placement and support to inner-city residents seeking private sector jobs. STRIVE trains clients with multiple barriers on the behaviors and attitudes necessary for successful employment. In 2000, the National Employment Initiative was created to promote the STRIVE program at the national level.Funding will enable the organization to continue to develop and implement the initiative and provide national leadership in the workforce development field. Activities will include organizing the annual STRIVE training conference and the National Governance Summit.Since 1985, the STRIVE program has been replicated throughout the United States and at one site internationally, and has helped more than 20,000 low-income youth and adults enter the workforce and retain employment.
