About this grant
The Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights is a key Russian non-governmental organization that offers public policy expertise, runs advocacy campaigns, and offers training, consulting and information services to a broad range of civic groups on issues of democracy, civil society and human rights. The center is a leading participant in various domestic and international democracy and human rights promotion efforts. Over the next two years, the center will focus on issues such as ethnic discrimination and hate speech, military reform and alternative civil service, Russian legislation concerning human rights and civil society, legal support to the nonprofit sector in light of new legislation, and the development of a strategy for Russia’s human rights movement. The center will also initiate a training program for young people on civic participation, local community development and democratic processes in Russia.
