About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen public participation and give voice to civil society at the European Union level. To this end, CEE Bankwatch Network, a network of nongovernmental organizations in Central and Eastern Europe, will monitor the activities of international financial institutions and advocate for the adoption of environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly development policies by these institutions. During the grant period, the grantee will monitor the effects of European Union public finance on climate change, increase its outreach to the general public, and strengthen the organizational capacity and financial sustainability of the grantee and its members. Key achievements in 2015-2016 included leading a successful campaign on clean energy issues in European Union policies, advocating for greater transparency of the international financial institutions, expanding the grantee’s geographical scope of work to North Africa and the Middle East, and strengthening the capacity of the grantee and its members. The grantee is registered in the Czech Republic, and its executive director is based in Budapest, Hungary.
