About this grant
The Foundation Center has collected, analyzed and published information related to foundations and philanthropy for almost 50 years. It disseminates information through a series of publications as well as a national network of 230 funding information centers and a Web site. The center also operates five regional libraries in Atlanta, Cleveland, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.Multiyear funding will help the center expand its database; provide updated and new directories and resources; conduct research programs; and provide ongoing and new educational opportunities for grantseekers. Specific activities include producing a final report assessing philanthropic response to 9/11; publishing a report on international grantmaking trends of U.S. foundations; conducting outreach to small and underresourced grantseekers by adding new funding information centers in rural areas of Florida, South Dakota, Utah and West Virginia; and expanding coverage and information on community foundations.Recent accomplishments included expanding its database of grantmakers; publishing a directory on program-related investments and charitable loans; tracking philanthropy’s response to 9/11 and surveying funders; and launching a strategic planning effort.
