About this grant
This grant provides general purpose support to the Foundation Center, an organization that collects, analyzes, and publishes information on foundations and philanthropy. The grantee serves more than six million people through its online resources, five regional offices, and a network of over 400 funding information centers throughout the United States and in nine other countries around the world. It provides training and information resources for thousands of grantseeking organizations and individuals every month by maintaining databases containing profiles of more than 140,000 grantmakers and 9.5 million grants around the world. The grantee also produces and disseminates research on foundations and strategic communications that promote public understanding of philanthropy. Their strategic priorities are to 1) connect nonprofits to the resources they need to thrive; 2) empower donors with knowledge tools to be more strategic; 3) build the global data platform for philanthropy; 4) communicate philanthropy’s contribution to making a better world; 5) encourage greater foundation transparency; and 6) ensure that technology provides a strong foundation for the center’s work.
