About this grant
Women & Philanthropy is a national nonprofit organization created to provide leadership to foundations and philanthropists on key issues concerning women and girls. It works to increase the number of women in leadership positions in philanthropy and to increase funding for programs focusing on women and girls through conferences, publications, research, training and networking.Multiyear funding will enable the organization to cultivate new foundations; provide training, especially for women and girls of color, on the use of new foundation resources; address the interconnections between gender, race, class and other issues and create an advocacy program to include gender in policy matters; and conduct research focusing on the tangible connections for funders between effective grantmaking and women and girls as change agents. In addition, the organization will conduct annual and regional meetings, encourage education funders to focus on gender, and facilitate a new women of color leadership caucus.During the past two years, the organization completed a strategic planning process; began implementing a new strategic plan; observed its 25th anniversary; conducted an annual meeting in Dallas, Texas; and completed three reports and books.
