About this grant
Approximately 100 local land trusts are active in the four southeastern ecoregions of interest to Mott’s freshwater ecosystems grantmaking. While some of these land trusts are professionally staffed, many are very small and ill-equipped to respond to the conservation challenges and opportunities before them. With previous support, the Land Trust Alliance, Inc.’s, Southeast Land Trust Capacity-Building Program has focused on two primary objectives: ensuring the basic competency of land trusts in the region and increasing the effectiveness of the land trusts’ work. In 2003, the organization adopted a new strategic plan. This grant increase and grant period extension will allow the program to continue offering capacity-building services to local land trusts in the region while modifying the program to coincide fully with the new strategic plan.
