About this grant
The Land Trust Alliance, a national organization serving land trusts in the United States, builds the capacities of land trusts to protect freshwater ecosystems and water quality in regions of interest to the Mott Foundation. With prior Mott support, the grantee has provided numerous land trusts in the Great Lakes and southeastern United States with training, guided organizational assessments, mentoring, and financial assistance. With continued Mott support, the grantee will continue to increase the pace and quality of land conservation activities in the Great Lakes Basin and southeastern United States, while advancing the strategic conservation of priority freshwater ecosystems in both regions. Funds in the first year of the grant will also be used to launch a network of Gulf Coast land trusts working together in response to the BP oil spill.
