About this grant

The goal of the project is to promote citizen engagement in and awareness of local and national decisionmaking processes and to encourage transparency and accountability of national and local government in Croatia.Multiyear funding will support activities that include increasing the number of student interns in local and national parliaments, assemblies and government offices; organizing opportunities for elected officials and their constituencies to discuss local issues of concern; and monitoring parliamentary elections through mobile teams and parallel vote tabulation.Recent achievements included developing the first internship program for students in national parliament and government offices in Croatia; organizing more than 250 discussion sessions with citizens and elected officials; organizing regular study and observation visits to the national parliament for more than 3,500 people; and conducting interactive and participatory workshops about election processes and citizen rights and responsibilities for more than 34,000 high school students.
