About this grant

The PRIMA-News Information Agency, formerly the PRIMA Human Rights New Agency, provides information on human rights in the former Soviet Union and other countries where human rights abuses are frequent. This service is aimed primarily at Russian media, but also is available to non-governmental organizations, governmental agencies, international organizations and individual activists. In order to provide current news and information, PRIMA has established a broad network of correspondents.Multiyear funding will enable PRIMA to fulfill its basic mission of increasing human rights coverage in the media and popularizing the topic of human rights. To this end, PRIMA will launch a marketing effort to attract new subscribers and expand the analytical content of its Web site. PRIMA also will focus on greater publicity and pay greater attention to Russian regions where human rights violations are more acute.Currently, PRIMA has 309 permanent subscribers; distributes its daily newswire in both Russian and English; and records approximately 500 visitors to its Web site per day.
