About this grant

Learning Points Associates (LPA) works to collect and disseminate promising practices for afterschool practitioners. Its goal is to identify examples of high-quality afterschool activities that complement the school day and provide access to opportunities for success in academics, careers or job training.Multiyear funding will enable LPA to disseminate collected information through print; postings on the Promising Practices in Afterschool Web site; presentations that share findings and lessons learned at conferences and workshops; and other Web-based efforts to develop awareness. In addition, LPA will work with the Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative to provide expertise on quality programming.Among LPA’s recent accomplishments are collecting promising practices from the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) programs; designing training strands for the federally sponsored 21st CCLC Summer Institute; and developing and publishing a tool kit for creating effective afterschool programs and another to help programs frame their activities around good decisionmaking.
