About this grant

The Georgia Center for Law in the Public Interest is an environmental law group dedicated to improving the lives of Georgia’s citizens by promoting the development and effective implementation of public policy to protect natural resources. The center works with local, state and national environmental groups.Multiyear funding will enable the center to strengthen water quality permits and promote compliance with water quality standards; promote effective implementation of construction storm water permits; improve the environmental non-governmental organization community’s ability to participate in decisionmaking; and coordinate efforts among the environmental community on statewide water quality policy.Recent achievements included addressing water quality compliance issues of municipal waste water treatment facilities in five cities; working with groups in five watersheds to control storm water pollution; and participating in a collaborative of organizations working to promote an environmentally sound, statewide water management policy.
