About this grant
This grant will provide partial support to Oakland Community Organizations for the Small Schools Campaign. Oakland Community Organizations recently won a commitment from the school district to establish new, small autonomous schools designed to raise academic standards, especially in lower-income neighborhoods. This grant is for the follow-up project, the Small Schools Campaign, which will organize parents and teachers citywide to act as educational reform leaders and ensure effective implementation of the new schools. In addition, this grant will enable the organization to participate in the Foundation’s eight-site study to explore the contribution of education organizing to education reform efforts in low-performing districts and schools.
