About this grant

The International Center for Transitional Justice was established in 2001 to provide assistance to countries grappling with past human rights abuses. Based in New York City, the center operates in more than 30 countries, including the Balkans and South Africa, and provides research, technical assistance, legal counsel and policy recommendations to governments and nonprofit organizations. This grant will enable the center to expand its programs in the Middle East, North Africa and French-speaking Africa; establish field offices in Europe and Africa; focus on strengthening its civil society partnerships; build a strategic rapid response program; and improve its evaluation efforts. The center has undertaken more than 250 missions to more than 30 countries during the past five years.
