About this grant
The Georgia River Network is the only statewide environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of Georgia’s waters. This grant will support the network’s efforts to build an active, effective, citizen-led community of organizations committed to the health of state waters.Multiyear funding will enable the network to develop new watershed organizations; strengthen existing organizations; promote sound public policy; work with River Network to implement the Watershed Collaboration program; and build internal capacity to deliver programs and services to local river and watershed organizations.Recent achievements included assisting in the development of six new organizations; providing assistance to more than 30 existing groups; organizing opportunities for local groups to network and receive training; disseminating information and tools to local groups through a Web site, print and email newsletters, and publications; promoting policies that will protect Georgia’s rivers and streams; and educating the public.
