About this grant
Since 1998, United Way of Genesee County has been operating Bridges to the Future, an afterschool program for elementary to high school students that encourages positive youth development through safe, accessible and challenging activities that appeal to students’ diverse interests. The United Way of Genesee County Bridges to the Future program now is being implemented in more than 100 schools in all 21 county school districts. This grant will provide funds to supplement more than $800,000 in state funding for Bridges to the Future and enable United Way of Genesee County to sustain a full range of activities at each site. Funding includes a grant increase to support the exploration and implementation of additional programmatic services for middle school and high school youth in the Westwood Heights School District.
