About this grant
The DataCenter provides community organizing and advocacy groups with research and information.Funding will enable the DataCenter to work with a select group of organizations to enhance their use of the Internet for research; provide organizations with research translation; train groups of organizers and leaders to become more sophisticated in their understanding of the uses and misuses of research and data; develop and implement an Internet communications strategy to provide organizing networks with quick access to information; and create a set of tools to help local organizations understand the steps in developing a research plan.Accomplishments during the past two years included recruiting a diverse staff of information specialists who teach low-income groups how to conduct research; providing the organizing group with access to information sources contained in expensive databases; and translating specialized reports and research for use by local organizing groups.
