About this grant
The goal of the Central/Eastern Europe and Russia Regional Governance program is to strengthen the nonprofit sector in Central/Eastern Europe (CEE) and Russia by fostering the development of strong and effective boards of directors. The program was launched to establish partnerships in Ukraine and Hungary; explore the feasibility of a partnership in Poland; provide region-specific advanced training in board development for international fellows from the region; and design and conduct a survey of governance practices in select countries.Funding will support activities that include creating a brochure on governance for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in CEE and Russia; launching a Web site on NGO governance; and organizing meetings of the CEE Working Group.Recent accomplishments included promoting the development of strong and effective boards of directors; disseminating best practices in CEE/Russia governance; working closely with the CEE Working Group; and developing a handbook on NGO governance specifically designed for NGOs in CEE/Russia.
