About this grant
The Aspen Institute works to develop practical leadership through nonpartisan seminars and policy programs designed for leaders in business, government, the media, education, the arts, and the independent sector. This grant will provide partial support for the Project on Race and Community Revitalization of the Roundtable on Comprehensive Community Initiatives, which focuses greater attention on racial equity in community building and democratic decisionmaking. It also focuses on developing leaders who are more attuned to race as a societal issue and will be able to identify or develop strategies for recognizing and dealing with race issues. Recent work has included further refinement of the curriculum and tools for the Seminar on Racial Equity and Society and training of community foundation and other leaders from seven locations around the country. Future support will capitalize on the work with community foundations through peer learning among participants and developing and disseminating case studies.
