About this grant
The program goal is to ensure public participation and engagement in decisions and processes affecting the environmental rights of citizens in Ukraine. Over the next two years, the grantee will work to expand access to environmental information, increase participation in environmental decisionmaking, and promote environmental justice. It will organize its work across three major program areas: advocacy, information and analysis, and international cooperation. In the period 2009-2011, the grantee successfully pushed for greater information transparency within the Ukrainian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. Its analyses also contributed to the Ukrainian government issuing a plan for meeting its obligations under the Aarhus Convention. A co-founder of the Danube Civil Society Forum, it was the only Ukrainian entity to comment on the European Union Draft Strategy for the Danube Region. Founded in 1994, Environment-People-Law is a leading Ukrainian nongovernmental organization whose mission is to promote the environmental rights of citizens through advocacy, education, information, and legal assistance.
