About this grant
The annual conference of the Global Philanthropy Forum is designed to build a learning community of donors committed to international causes. Since the inaugural conference in 2002, more than 380 people annually have participated in the event. This grant will enable the World Affairs Council of Northern California to explore the role of aid, trade, debt relief and private-sector enterprise in international development using a case-study approach. The conference, which is usually held on the Stanford University campus, will be held in Washington, D.C. in 2006 to expose new philanthropists to social entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders and think tank scholars who are advancing policy goals through research, direct action and public engagement. The council is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization devoted to engaging the public in a discussion of the transnational issues of tomorrow.
