About this grant

The Tennessee Clean Water Network, formed in 1998, provides state-level leadership on clean water issues and offers capacity-building and other technical services to local watershed organizations.Multiyear funding will enable the network to promote clean water policy reform at the state level; protect watersheds by addressing the ways that land-use practices impact water resources; and strengthen the river community by building the capacity of Tennessee citizens to be effective supporters of watershed health.Recent accomplishments included helping negotiate a relicensing agreement for four hydropower dams on the Little Tennessee River system; starting a community-based project in the Emory River watershed to demonstrate ecologically sustainable approaches to economic development; and building the capacity of watershed groups throughout the state.
