About this grant
The Cumberland River Compact (CRC) encourages cooperation among citizens, businesses and agencies in Kentucky and Tennessee to enhance the water quality of the Cumberland River and its watersheds. It builds the capacity of local watershed groups; participates in a wide range of public education and outreach programs; and offers a variety of training programs for specific audiences, such as local officials and home builders.Multiyear funding will enable CRC to develop two new watershed organizations; maintain the Cumberland Basin Watershed Council; continue the Building Outside the Box program, with an emphasis on promoting water-conserving home construction; launching the Local Officials Curriculum program to strengthen local policies affecting the management of water resources; increasing public education and outreach efforts; and operating educational programs throughout the Cumberland River basin area.
