About this grant
The program goal is to improve the field of grantmaking in Africa. Since 2001, the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group, a project of the Tides Center, has served as a resource for funders supporting development efforts in Africa. Its activities include organizing an annual retreat to provide space for funders to network and address practical issues of common concern. It also conducts special research projects to track funding trends and provide information regarding where funders are active. Past support contributed to its various programs and activities, in particular, knowledge building and knowledge sharing about grantmaking in Africa. In 2008, the group hosted its first annual retreat on the African continent followed by a conference in Johannesburg. This grant will support the grantee to continue serving grantmakers working in Africa and strengthening collaboration among them.
