About this grant
The Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group, a project of the Tides Center, is a network of organizations and individuals funding development work in Africa. Since 2000, it has served as a resource for grantmakers funding in Africa and works to deepen their understanding of development trends in countries they work in. Past support enabled the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group to develop a new strategic plan that will guide the work of the group for the next three years, convene annual conferences that bring together grantmakers working across Africa to learn from one another, and host Webinars on topical issues affecting its members. This grant will support the group to grow and strengthen the pool of philanthropic resources to Africa by working with members to identify key points of leverage and new opportunities. It will also promote strategic partnerships and collaboration between current members and private philanthropists in Africa and convene grantmakers and experts to discuss issues related to their work in Africa to build a strong, connected, and informed network of grantmakers.
