About this grant
This grant will support the efforts of the National School Boards Association to inform school board leaders of the benefits of afterschool programs and increase their capacity to support afterschool programs. Multiyear funding will enable the association to raise awareness among school board leaders of the positive effects of quality afterschool programs on public education; help state school board associations and local school boards build and sustain afterschool programs and infrastructures; increase the visibility of school boards as leaders and key partners in the afterschool movement at the local, state and national levels; and provide advice and management assistance to projects.Recent accomplishments included conducting a national afterschool survey of school board presidents; developing a Web site focused on school board leadership; and documenting eight successful afterschool board policies and partnerships in a report.
