About this grant

This renewal grant will allow the Afterschool Alliance to continue to support the vision that all children and youth — particularly those in underserved populations — will have access to quality, affordable afterschool programs. In 2009, the Afterschool Alliance will renew its position as the national voice of afterschool as the nation considers education reform, families struggle with economic challenges, the public embraces a renewed sense that government plays a vital role in shaping success, and a new administration takes office. Specifically, the Afterschool Alliance will continue to focus on the following as ongoing priorities concerning the afterschool field: 1) serving as an information source on afterschool programs and resources; 2) being an effective voice for afterschool in efforts to expand quality afterschool programs; 3) encouraging the development of local, state, and national afterschool constituencies and systems; and 4) communicating the impact of afterschool programs on children, families, and communities.
