About this grant
This grant will allow the Afterschool Alliance to continue its efforts to ensure that all children and youth — particularly those in underserved populations — will have access to quality, affordable afterschool programs. The grantee serves as the lead voice and organizer of the field; works with policymakers to advance opportunities for afterschool; and ensures that the field’s lessons inform various policy fronts and other education reform initiatives. Specifically, the grantee will continue its work on the following priorities: 1) serving as an information source on afterschool programs and resources; 2) being an effective voice for afterschool in efforts to expand quality afterschool programs; 3) encouraging the development of local, state, and national afterschool constituencies and systems; and 4) communicating the impact of afterschool programs on children, families, and communities. In addition, the grantee will work with the Mott-funded, statewide afterschool networks and the afterschool field to help afterschool programs access federal stimulus dollars.
