About this grant
Ditshwanelo CAR²AS assists people and communities in South Africa to better understand and deal with the impact of racism and sexism at both the individual and institutional level. Over the past few years, it provided services to a range of institutions including government, business, and the nonprofit sector to promote healing and reconciliation and combat racism. Ongoing work includes an intervention with the Golden Lions Rugby Union to tackle racism in sport. The grantee will also provide support to the South African Human Rights Commission to address racism and promote reconciliation and community healing in the small town of Skierlik in the Northwest province. Support will also be provided to organizations in Kenya to deal with ethnic conflicts and to promote peace to prevent a repeat of the post-election violence of 2007.
