About this grant
In 2002, the Global Greengrants Fund established the International Financial Institution (IFI) Small Grants Fund to provide grassroots organizations in developing countries with small grants to carry out initiatives to influence the projects and policies of IFIs.Multiyear funding will enable the fund to provide small grants from between $500 and $1500 to non-governmental organizations and grassroots organizations in developing countries that are working to address the impacts of IFI trade policies and programs. Objectives include increasing public awareness and access to information in developing countries; increasing public involvement in project development and decisionmaking; strengthening the public’s ability to monitor projects; diversifying and expanding participation on the IFI advisory board; and extending IFI-related grantmaking to regional advisory boards.Recent accomplishments included increasing the number of IFI and trade-related grants; broadening membership in the IFI Small Grants Fund advisory board, including an advisor from Africa; implementing a project results system to analyze the impacts and trends of grantee projects; and completing an evaluation of 10 years of grantmaking in Brazil.
