About this grant

The Pre-accession Partnerships for Rural Europe (PREPARE) program was created to strengthen civil society in the 10 European Union candidate countries by promoting multinational exchange that focuses on rural development. PREPARE is led by the Swedish Federation of Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies, an organizing group of Western and Eastern European non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Multiyear funding will support efforts to sustain and strengthen existing national rural movements in Estonia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Poland; assist in the creation of national movements in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania; and encourage the evolution of the PREPARE network.Recent accomplishments included providing training and other capacity-building opportunities in each of the 10 accession countries; organizing and facilitating multinational exchanges and networking to support rural development efforts; creating a Web site; and planning an international gathering of the PREPARE network.
