About this grant
Since its establishment in 1956, the University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint) has served as a commuter campus for students coming from within a 70-mile radius. All current students live off campus and, for the most part, travel to campus by car. A student housing economic feasibility study was conducted to determine the need for a residential campus component, which could play an important role in the redevelopment of downtown Flint.Funding will enable UM-Flint to contract with a vendor to determine the extent of interest among private developers in building and operating the first phase of the student housing plan.
