About this grant
This grant will support an endowment fund created to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Carpathian Foundation, a cross-border initiative that promotes civil society in Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine. The foundation promotes regional cohesion and a common identity among these countries by encouraging cross-border cooperation and a shared sense of purpose among the leaders of indigenous non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments.Multiyear funding will provide up to $5 million in support of the fund’s $9-million goal on a one-to-one matching basis. Friends of the Carpathian Foundation-United States was created to raise and manage an endowment fund for the Carpathian Foundation in 2003.
