About this grant
In late 2002, the Center for Ukrainian Reform Education (CURE) began broadcasting an educational radio drama series called "Life in a Distance of Ten Minutes," focusing on current issues of modern Ukrainian social development. In addition to the educational component, the series encourages civic initiative, promoting the concept of public action as the key to solving current problems. Ten-minute segments air daily on UR-1, Ukraine’s first national radio station, and on eight regional FM radio stations throughout the country.Second-year funding will enable CURE to continue producing the series, broadcasting the program twice daily on UR-l and from one to three times daily on regional stations. CURE plans to expand the number of regional stations that broadcast the program from eight to at least 16. Anticipated topics to be addressed include presidential elections, socioeconomic issues and civic engagement.
