About this grant

As the world population and middle class expand, so does public investment in energy and infrastructure. Investment by national development banks, particularly in Brazil and China, have surpassed World Bank lending and are driving energy and infrastructure development in Latin America, Asia, and Africa often without the application of strong social and environmental safeguards. With this grant, Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide will strengthen its network of experts to provide legal, scientific, technical, and organizational support to local leaders, who are monitoring and analyzing energy and infrastructure investments. This grant will also enable the grantee to convene environmental leaders from around the world for the 2014 Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide annual meeting.
