About this grant
This grant will provide partial support to the Civil Rights Project: Education Initiative at Harvard University to continue to provide research and analysis related to the civil rights dimensions of three major, interrelated education policy challenges – the impact of No Child Left Behind, the drop-out/graduation crisis, and redirecting the school-to-prison pipeline. The Civil Rights Project has provided decisionmakers, community groups, and education reform advocates with research and policy and legal analyses on these issues and their impact on poor and minority youth. The next phase of the initiative will be to gear these analyses toward helping state- and community-level advocates and legislators promote research-based policy recommendations that result in more equitable outcomes and greater opportunities for poor and minority youth in making the transition from school to college.
