About this grant

The program goal is to raise awareness among nongovernmental organizations in Central/Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union about the implications and opportunities of European Union accession. Building upon its extensive experience in Brussels and throughout the European Union, the European Citizen Action Service will continue to provide organizations in Central/Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union with relevant information, training opportunities, and study visits regarding European Union policies, legislation, and funding procedures. The European Citizen Action Service launched this program in 2002, and to date, more than 480 individuals from 220 organizations in 16 countries have benefited from this program. Since its establishment in 1990, the grantee has been strengthening the participation of nongovernmental organizations on European Union policy development, promoting citizens’ free movement rights, and campaigning for transparency in the European Union institutions.
