About this grant

This grant will enable the MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership to develop a toolkit to implement national mentoring guidelines and develop practitioner-centered technical assistance to accompany the toolkit. The toolkit will complement the recently revised national mentoring guidelines: "Elements of Effective Practice." Technical assistance will strengthen and expand mentoring opportunities in afterschool programs, especially for low-income rural and urban youth. In 2002, MENTOR began revising the guidelines by convening an advisory group that included afterschool experts; and developing online mentoring training and resources to help afterschool program coordinators connect young people with high-quality mentoring opportunities.
