About this grant
The Forum for Youth Investment at Impact Strategies created the Out of School-Time Policy Commentary Series to provide local, state and national policymakers and government officials with research and information on how to improve the quality, quantity and sustainability of out-of-school opportunities for low-income students. As the afterschool movement continues to grow, policymakers need to be informed when making decisions that affect the quality and quantity of afterschool programs.Funding will enable the forum to develop two eight-page policy commentaries on critical issues in the out-of-school time field. The two commentaries will be disseminated in both print and electronic versions, and the series will be available on the forum’s Web site. An audio conference will be held following the release of each publication to enable readers to discuss the implications of the ideas with the authors and other experts in the field.Since 2002, nine policy commentaries have been developed through this project.
