About this grant
This grant renewal will provide partial support to the Southern Education Foundation for its Center to Serve Historically Black Colleges and Universities. As in the first years of the project, accreditation will continue to provide the framework for research, technical assistance, and training for leaders of black colleges. From 2003 to 2007, the grantee convened expert advisory committees, organized informational workshops and meetings, commissioned research, provided technical assistance, and awarded minigrants to schools approaching accreditation review. Over the next three years, the grantee will continue this work with a particular focus on measuring student learning outcomes, governance, and technology policy and practice. In 2007, the Southern Education Foundation celebrates the 140th year of its founding. It is the South’s only regional nonprofit focused exclusively on improving education for low-income students and communities from pre-school through higher education.
