About this grant

Milwaukee Innercity Congregations Allied for Hope (MICAH) is one of eight sites participating in a study to examine the effects of community organizing on education reform in low-performing districts and schools. MICAH, a congregation-based, community-organizing group in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, concentrates on improvements at the district level, but also works with individual schools and reform of state funding at the state level.Multiyear funding will enable MICAH to focus on reducing truancy; improving safety in the neighborhoods surrounding the target schools; continuing to work for greater and more equitable funding for Milwaukee public schools; and participating in an eight-site study to explore the contribution of education organizing to education reform efforts in low-performing districts and schools.
