About this grant
The need for a multilateral trading system that is democratic, accountable, and participatory, as well as one that respects and promotes fundamental human rights, the environment, and sustainable development, has never been more apparent. The dismal state of the Doha Round of trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization is a clear signal that the intended benefits from international trade and investment rules have not been achieved. The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy has worked to address these concerns and ensure that multilateral institutions contribute to sustainable development. During the grant period, the grantee will continue to monitor global trade discussions, promote approaches to fair trade, work to ensure that new biofuel strategies contribute to sustainable development, and work to democratize global governance.
