About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen the nonprofit sector in Northwest Russia. The Saint-Petersburg NGO Development Centre will focus on three key areas of activity. First, it will provide ongoing consulting, training, and other support services for both registered organizations and unregistered initiative groups. Second, it will continue work on developing philanthropy and corporate social responsibility in St. Petersburg and beyond. Finally, it will work to promote partnership activities among nonprofits and between the sector and local or regional governments. In 2009-2011, the Kind Peter charitable giving campaign raised over $600,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to support community charitable initiatives. This model was subsequently adopted in four other Russian cities and led to the creation of a community foundation in St. Petersburg. Established in 1994, the Saint-Petersburg NGO Development Centre is one of the leading support organizations contributing to the growth of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy in Russia.
