About this grant

In December 2005, the Great Lakes governors released the proposed Great Lakes Compact, which would address all new water withdrawals and diversions within the portion of the basin located in the United States. Going forward, each of the eight Great Lakes states must ratify the compact and establish administrative programs to enact its provisions. Over the past several years, Environmental Advocates of New York, a leading statewide environmental group, has educated the public and decisionmakers in New York about the compact and related issues. With renewal support, the organization will continue its efforts to educate a wide range of constituencies about the compact and related issues through direct public outreach, media work, and opinion leader education.
