About this grant
This grant will enable the Hatcher Group to provide strategic communications technical assistance to nonprofit organizations working in coalitions to establish or expand Earned Income Tax Credit policies at the state level. Specifically, Mott’s funds will be used to help advocates raise awareness among policymakers, journalists, and other key stakeholders about the credit and its role in alleviating poverty. The grantee will also provide advocates with easy access to information and materials about effective advocacy through an online information resource center. Since 2002, when this project began, the grantee has helped groups in over 20 states strengthen their strategic communications capacity. The Hatcher Group is a Bethesda, Maryland-based, for-profit, public affairs firm that works exclusively for foundations and nonprofit organizations on workforce development, welfare, and urban social policy issues.
