Advancing and Protecting Sustainability Standards in Development Finance

About this grant

Friends of the Earth is the United States affiliate of an international network of environmental organizations in 76 countries. Through this project, the grantee works to strengthen environmental policies in public and private international finance institutions. Over the last grant, it was successful in ensuring that domestic regulations on carbon trading and export credit agencies were strengthened. As well, the grantee provided training for Chinese organizations to address their public and private bank policies. With this grant, the project objectives are to ensure that international development finance is governed by robust environmental and social standards and the level of climate finance is adequate and deployed in ways that safeguard the environment, benefit the poor, and promote social justice.
