About this grant
The goal of the project, Developing Community-Based Organizations in Romania, is to build the capacity of informal groups and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in southern Romania to participate in the development of their communities. Multiyear funding will enable the association to pursue objectives that include building the capacity of up to 40 groups working with marginalized people in southern Romania; supporting networking between past and current participants in the program; encouraging local citizen groups to take the initiative in solving local problems; and expanding the pool of trainers and consultants experienced in working with community groups.During the past two years, combined support was provided to 18 groups located in rural and urban settlements in four counties of southern Romania. An average of two people from each organization received training, and local organizations had access to consultations and small grants.
