About this grant
This grant provides continued general purpose support to GuideStar, the premier source of information about nonprofit organizations in the United States. With data on over 1.7 million nonprofit organizations in its database, millions of users of its free public services, and thousands of customers for its paid services, GuideStar has become an invaluable source of information to nonprofits and grantmakers. The grantee’s data services provide greater transparency for the nonprofit sector, encourage charitable giving by building public interest and trust, and enable individuals and institutions involved with charitable activities and organizations to make better decisions. Over the next two years, the grantee plans to expand and improve its free public services; launch new customized data service packages; implement more advanced search capabilities; connect to other Web sites through strategic partnerships; develop additional value-added benchmarking and analytic tools; and explore the provision of fee-based research, consulting, and due diligence services for specific clients.
